Saint Mary Charity


Saint Mary Theological College and Ethio-American Cultural Institute has the purpose to guide people in realizing their moral responsibility and integrity in life; and to undertake the ministry of social concern for and uplift of the poor and downtrodden, the hungry, the diseased and the illiterate. i.e. to help in the formation of healthy communities of morally sound citizens; to strengthen people in the values of their faith in order that they may fulfill their role in society.

Therefore, the institute established this Charity for the purpose of feeding the hungry and quenching their thirst, providing shelter to the homeless, clothing the naked, looking after the sick and tending to the imprisoned by providing spiritual and physical nourishment throughout the world (Mt. 25:31-).

The Charity is organized as an association of volunteer members. Hence, it is gender sensitive, non-profit making, non-political and non-discriminatory of religion or race. In its operation gets inspired by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church values, and enhances program/projects towards a society of all ages while giving priorities for elderly and kids.

Vision

The Charity envisions at making positive difference in situation, behavior and livelihood conditions of needy elderly, youth and children within the context of their families and respective communities.

Objectives.

The charity has the following objectives
  • feeding the hungry and quenching their thirst,
  • providing shelter to the homeless,
  • clothing the naked,
  • looking after the sick and
  • tending to the imprisoned
Hence, we advocate for planned and centralized alms giving, leading to eradicate beggary and promote social security for all. We also employ community based program/projects.
